Mortal Engines
Reeve, P. (2003). Mortal Engines. New York: Harper Collins.
In a distant future Europe, cities have detached from the Earth and roam on caterpillar tracks, absorbing and devouring any smaller towns in their wake. Tom, a young historian in the London Museum, idolizes the Head Historian who might not be as kindly as he appears. Tom finds himself on the run on what remains of the Earth's surface with a band of young survivors as they rush to save the world they know from a dastardly plot. This intricate and action-packed story is compelling and original featuring cyborgs and survivors, pirates and a unique take on the post-apocalypse genre. This first story in a 4-book series was adapted into a blockbuster movie in 2018.
