A gritty and moody graphic novel, Batman: Year One details the beginning of Bruce Wayne's crusade as the Batman of Gotham City against the corrupt police force, mafia families and masked criminals. The art is clearly drawn with deep shading and muted colour which is used to set the tone of each page.
